BEYOND MEASURE. Solo exhibition Museum Of Graffiti, Miami. 14 May- 02 Sept 2024
This is my first solo exhibition with multiple art works in a museum setting. And not just a museum: the Museum of Graffiti in Miami. What an honor.
When they invited me and said I could do with the room what I wanted, I didn’t hold back and designed an immersive experience with 2 hanging installations, 3 canvases, 4 small works on paper and a floor. I wanted to show where I am standing right now in my abstract graffiti writing.
Inspired by flamboyant Miami I thought Miami colors and choose one I hardly ever use; Hot Pink. Just because… Lady Pink, Barbie pink and just because I could. I never embraced the color pink before, because I had to write graffiti amongst the guys and pink was somehow a ‘not done’ in my thoughts.
Special thanks go out to Alan Ket & Allison Freidin for offering me this incredible and special opportunity and hospitality. Noah for being my partner in crime on the measuring stuff and saving the day (more than once). My husband Jake, Noah and Ariel for the assistance with the installation and team Museum Of Graffiti for making it all go smooth as possible. Vanity Projects Miami for the best nail art collaboration ever!
Extra special thanks to everybody that came down for the vernissage! The local graffiti scene (all generations), the Miami MTN store staff, and last but not least my dearest friends who came from as far as Hawaii, New Orleans, Mid Florida and New York to cheer this special occasion.
The exhibition was made possible with generous support from Dutch Culture USA and RipIt.
